I was SO nervous. I got the email yesterday afternoon at approximately 5:35pm… my mission, should I choose to accept it, was to photograph something that embodied MY interpretation of the word “TIP”. I had 24 hours in which to complete it.
Oh I agonized over all the different meanings of TIP – tip of a hat, tip of the iceberg, tip-toes, tip over, tip-top …. the one image that kept returning to me was the point of a lead pencil. I just couldn’t get away from it, it chased me through my dreams, it chased me into awakening, it chased me all over the bloody place.
I tried no less than 50 ways to get a macro shot of the blue lead pencil that I found sitting in my desk drawer. None of them looked right. LAME! Then FINALLY I found the answer in my dreams: back lit with this morning’s sunlight, black and white to give it some definition over and above the distraction of the colours around and so close into the tip of the pencil that you can see the pits on the surface!!!!

Posted 25 May 2008 at 17:42:19 ¶Well, it’s certainly fun. The Mission24 one is a little stressful since you only have 24 hours. But photogamer is cool – you have a week. And there is no obligation to participate. You participate if you can.
