I was checking out DJ and Jules website just now and I see where Jules had a moment (or two) of emotion as the reality of it being HER WEDDING that she’s been planning, hit her yesterday.
That fact kinda hit me today too … altho, I wasn’t practicing with a tray on my head
@ Jules I was trying on wedding dresses at The Bridal Warehouse downtown Elizabethtown, KY. THAT was an experience … of course, the ladies were VERY nice, a little overly accommodating maybe – but I think that’s their job. You know, coddle and pet you and tell you how smashing you look, and how it’s YOUR choice and that “they’ll both work great, it’s just up to you … which look you’re going for” … yea. That kinda stuff.
So anyway, I chose 3 dresses to try on first. The first dress was SO cute and fun and … just the right size and the right colour and …. simply perfect! And the ladies were wow’ed. “OMG! It makes most people look hippy, but on you it’s just perfect!” … That was difficult to take off – lemme tell ya. It fit SO perfect – almost like it was made for me!
The second dress was … too big, too much, too …. ugh! That one came off almost as soon as it went on.
I had seen one on their website and in the catalog that I had REALLY loved. Funny too, as soon as I walked in, there it was hanging on a hanger outside a fitting room – looking just perfectly, but white. So I asked about it, and was told that they did NOT have it in ivory … they only had it in white and it was a size 6 or a 10. Ha! My luck. The cute, fun one that fit so perfect was a size 8; there was no way that size 6 was going to fit!!!
Imagine my shock, surprise and complete ecstasy to try on the gown – the size 6, let me remind you – AND IT FIT!!!! It fit so perfectly that I had to try on the cute, fun one again (twice) because the choice was SO HARD to make.
I was agonizing over how the ladies were coping with me and my indecision. It was either cute-fun or white-long-elegant … and it was A HARD DECISION!!! Adding shoes and a little sparkly headband didn’t help either – I was still undecided.
Finally, I just said “Screw it!” and went for white-long-elegant … mostly because it’s simple – more simple than cute-fun … despite being the “wrong” colour. In fact, the lady who was helping me said “Hun, I hate to say it, but there IS no etiquette anymore! It’s all about what YOU want now. It’s a pity all those values have gone, but … so it is”
At the end of the day, I came away with a perfect dress, perfect shoes and perfect headdress for my wedding!! I’m all set now! But I feel a little foolish for having rushed and bought that other one online – now I am going to have to find a way to “fix” that .. /sigh
Nevermind – my dearest friend Mz.Understood has advised me on just how to “fix” it and I am about ready to do just that right now … or attempt it at least.
/sigh
…
I’m getting married!!!!
Can you believe it?
Wow. I almost can’t!
