Bad fairy tale piece

Here’s some REALLY bad fairy-tale writing for you all today. Sitting on hold, being hungry, worrying about hubby, feeling tired and icky – all equal completely useless writings:

Once upon a time In a land far, far away There lived a princess Whose prince was in a land Many leagues hence She would get word From him daily On how he was doing and What was happening. And then suddenly there was nothing And she was sad.

There is a Jamaican quote, I am sure, regarding getting used to something only to ..read more

Beauty contests as coverup?

Sometime last week was, apparently, the Miss Universe 2010 pageant. Twitter was a-buzz with it and to some extent so was my Facebook friends list. I have to admit that my interest in beauty contests remains limited to a brief stint back in 1993 when an old high school and music classmate of mine not only secured the Miss Jamaica World title, but went on to win the Miss World title as well.

Now, it’s a 3-way lamp, so I turned it again and the bulb blinked on and I realized that one of the filaments in the ..read more

Regaining control over my life

This week is shaping up to be rather productive. After a loving pep-talk from the hubby, I decided to forcefully take back my time. Enforce my boundaries, organize my time and insist that everyone around me march to my tune.

Ok, ok – maybe not so much … but with a little help from specific people and suggestions, I managed to re-capture my time and am now working to keep hold of it. It’s easy to say: “here are my ..read more
