soft, sweet, dreamy …

I know this isn’t going to sound much like the title of the post right away, but bear with me, eh?

I opened up a bank account on Friday but for some reason my SSN was giving some kind of error … so the bank staff directed me to bring in the card itself later on … I guess this is to be sure that the number I was giving them wasn’t a fraudulent one? Dunno.

I’ve been having issues with this whole concept of a SSN … isn’t it supposed to be a number that no one else is to know? Seems to me that it’s the number MOST often asked for wherever I go. Talking to the hubby just before sleep one night, and we came to the conclusion that any institution that has to deal with financial or legal matters is GOING to ask for the SSN … law enforement and financial institutions – they, I guess, I can be comfortable with – right?

/sigh

So much to get used to, so much to learn, so much more to unlearn. Twice now I’ve reversed and found myself on the left instead of the right (no, not actual streets – thank goodness – just mere driveways – but still …. ) I have SO much to learn … sometimes it feels SO overwhelming.

Which brings me to the soft, sweet, dreamy … part of this post. I was out today – showing off my new SSN card to the bank peoples and getting kitty litter at Walmart and it starts POURING with rain.

A few minutes later, hubby beeps me and says “Where ARE you?” … I am miffed: “Er, Walmart. Why? What’s up?” He goes: “It’s starting to rain REAL hard …. look, just be careful, ok?”

Instant smile. It started raining, and the first thing he thought of was me out there, on my own, still learning to drive in this place … and faced with wet roads now to boot.

It must be love, I tell ya. :D
