how sweet it is

You tell me: how sweet is it to call your hubby (wifey?) on your way home from your “job” to say you’re going home and have him (her?) say: “Well, you can pretty much just go home and stick your feet up hun – I fed the kittehs and myself and everything is good at home.”

Wasn’t that just the greatest?

Well, day-2 officially over … day-1 if you don’t wanna count the couple of hours I gave yesterday before heading into the city for my Biometrics appointment.  I’ll tell you this – the guys at the clinic call it day-3 … cos the hour I was there last Thursday for intros and initial orientation counts as a day for them. Ha!

Top it off with “Oh! You’re lovely. No one has anything to say about you but good things – they love your energy, your attitude and you’re always smiling … AND you came back after day 1.”

Oh yea – I’m doing great.

Know what else?

Hectic for them here means a slow day for us yaadies. I wonder how many of my colleagues will be shocked at how long putting together paperwork for 200 patients takes? Took in excess of 5 hours – why? PLENTY of pauses for jokes and stories. I mean I got an EARFUL today about everybody and everything connected to that clinic. Paperwork is easy to put together … all-told, we yaadies could have it done in about 2 hours MAX – assuming we have to stop to answer the phones or check in a patient.

They were asking me today … I mean, I keep saying I feel useless cos I am sitting around staring into space for long periods of time .. .and lots of stuff I COULD be doing, I can’t do because I don’t have the access. They laughed at me so hard … telling me I helped already even though I don’t know that I’ve done anything at all.

Well … if this is the case .. I am going to have to watch myself and learn to slow down … unless I will be hated for my ability to do ALL their jobs without much ruffle… I mean, this has been my training. Fast pace so fast that even the pace itself is manic. I am not used to this much idle time on the job. If this is how it is in a general sense, I am going to be a-ok. ESPECIALLY if I like this place enough to stick with it even after I can work-work, instead of volunteer-work. Yea … gotta slow the pace down. Clearly they aren’t used to whirlwind days full of impossible demands and even more impossible people to deal with.

Bah! I am luvin’ this! :D

Best part of the WHOLE day is having my itty bitty Nala jump into my lap, with her silent meow, but her loud as a truck purrs (her purrs are louder than her meows – I tell you no lie) and her INSISTENCE on being petted. She is becoming a regular little cuddle bug.

Ah… this life… sigh

dudette, anything after being DBA for ICTAS or Digi is a quantum leap down. Now you know how we manage 2 or 3 jobs a week… I guess the trade-off is higher responsibility / liability due to the lawsuit-crazy culture; you have to make sure everything is done correctly. Funny hearing you say this tho: they say that we're laid back…

You know … you make a VERY valid point. Makes me wonder whether MAYbe I can actually handle a job doing what I used to do. Maybe it won't be as hectic or stressful…..
