So, here’s the latest news.
Like I said, I was sick all last week and a visit to the doc had me down with some kind of viral infection … most likely from working among all those germs. Well, what I did NOT mention was how high my blood pressure was at that visit (I think it might’ve been something like 154/87) and how the doc wanted me to do a 5-day monitoring thing all this week here past.
I got to day 3 and decided “Fuck it – I ain’t waiting no more. I think it’s time we do something about this crap RIGHT NOW!” … I was measuring 140s-150s over 80s and 90s all week. So I went into see her again yesterday (Friday) and when she saw the measurements, she congratulated me for not waiting and promptly started putting me in for meds.
So I am now on hypertension meds.
/sigh
Of course, they are only half dose and I am to do some followup labs and checks in the next 6 weeks… but … I never thought I’d be here already. I mean I know I was going to be here – both Grams and Moms were and are hypertensive – but … I guess you’re never really prepared for this … know what I mean?
So anyway, never a dull moment in my life eh?
Well, that’s not the end of it. Today, I gave about an hour to a Red Cross yard sale … and then hubby took me to the firing range!
!!!
Yep. Can you imagine me firing a gun? Ha! I actually had fun firing the .22 rifle (or pellet gun as it’s called) … I think I may have fired a good 12 rounds. The handgun tho … not sure what it is, but I DO know that it’s heavy and LOUD. As in about near tore my freakin’ arm off. Ya. No more of that crap. As hubby tells the story, the first shot had me blasting backwards into his arms – the kick is THAT BAD. Yea – no more of that. I’ll stick with the pellet gun thankssomuch.
I watched hubby shoot like a pro and then we left … at which point he goes “You’re driving home” … we’d gone in the pickup. So more excitement … I got to drive the big hunk of metal all the way home (maybe about 2-3 miles away). THAT was the best part. Of course, he made me reverse it into the driveway here at home … which is a feat since our house is on a corner, there is no real curb as such and the driveway itself is on a rise. But … I did ok. Which means I probably get to drive it more often after this.
So aside from a full week at the hospital, and being tired almost constantly .. not to mention aching feet the whole week … that’s pretty much it for me.
In 12 days, the 2nd WoW expansion will be available for play. Hubby and I are all set to go on the day it’s released. I’m getting excited – sort of. I have to admit to being just slightly bored with the game now. And I suspect it is because I’ve lost out on the big raiding opportunities these last few months. So maybe the new content will renew my interest. Or maybe I’ll lose interest altogether…. we’ll just have to wait and see.
Anywho … I’m headin’ out now. I’ll catch y’all on the upside.
