bureaucratic red tape FTL

(Note: FTL is a gaming term. Its an acronym for “for the loss” and it means that whatever you are referring to has a negative effect on progress)

So, I’ve been trying to regain access to my old yahoo address forEVER. Ever few months or so, I check back to see if there is some other way to contact Yahoo about it and up to this week, there were none. You either remembered your password, still had access to the email address you signed up with or you were shit out of luck. So anyway, finally, there is a way to contact them … which I did. Of course, it didn’t help that I could no longer remember the ID … Yahoo allows you to attach more than one “nickname” to an ID.  I know I had given my ID at least 2 nicknames but for the life of me, I cannot remember the alternate email address.

Anyway, I write them and they ask for 8 pieces of information (including the alternate address). They tell me the alternate address doesn’t match. All SEVEN pieces of information match, mark you … just the alternate email doesn’t.  They say they can’t help me.

Now I ask you … if there are EIGHT pieces of information that verify your identity and ONE doesn’t match and the reason given is “it was many years ago and I have used many addresses” …. what do YOU do? Do you deny me access to my account? Or do you say “Sorry – ONE out of EIGHT doesn’t match. You lose.”

/sigh

Sick of stupidity.
