I saw something today that made me both elated and wonderous at the same time.
I’ve been told it’s not uncommon to see such displays here, but I have to admit – after having been the victim of what SEEMED to be prejudicial treatment within the first few weeks of being here permanently, I am slightly burnt – if ya get mah meanin’.
So anyway, I went to the DMV this morning to do a change of address and name finally and on my way back I was in traffic behind a truck (Jamaicans call them pickups or vans people) and a white man is in the driver’s seat and he has 2 stickers on his rear window – one for the Central Kentuckian Alumni (the one right behind his head) and on the other side …. Obama ’08.
…
So ok – there was a little surprise, but I was mostly happy and wonderous – because that does say something good. Wouldn’t you say?
For myself and this upcoming election? Well, as usual with my political stance, I am apathetic. I firmly believe that no matter WHO is in that seat (of whichever country) they ALL do the same crap when they get the power anyway. There are so few people who don’t look out for themselves and their own once they have the means and opportunity that I just can’t see any country having a human being in power who DOES look out for the people first and foremost. It’s just human nature and it’s unavoidable. But there IS one thing I’d like to see happen – and that is for the US to leave the Iraquis the hell alone already. And whichever of these dudes are willing to do that has my full support – such as it is.
Frankly, before I CAN have a worthwhile opinion, I would need to get more current the issues anyway, so I really do NOT have much more of an opinion than that.
So anyway – that’s my story for the day …
Oh … Nala’s discovered a new toy … my locs =\ She’s sitting in my lap right now pouncing each and every one she can find.

I think I understand how you felt and would've been a little surprised too.

Its the name of the girl from Lion King – hubby's name. =) Not sure what it means, would have to look it up. But he wanted to “brand” her with the spirit of that character. =)
