10 keys to a solid friendship … fyr-style

So since my last relationship post was so well-received and I think I am on a roll these days, I’ll talk a little more about relationships and in particular friendships. While I will not claim to be on top of these myself in any way, I do think these 10 pointers are very important in creating and maintaining solid friendships. And don’t you fret, I hear the voices of all the people who will instantly claim that I have already ..read more

Being thankful even when it’s hard

The phone rang at 6am this morning… hubby’s phone. Usually, his phone rings at that time and it’s work calling about some crap that can’t wait until at least the sun is up. Excitement: at the “project” aspect ..read more

Preparing for a deployment

There. I’ve said it. Acknowledged it. Now what?

I guess I haven’t really been acknowledging this upcoming period in our lives. My first clue was when another wife in this unit spent one night crying her eyeballs out and I still have yet to FEEL that panicky. My second clue, I guess, is Mom saying that she noticed that I was waaaay too calm over the Shootings (Capital ‘S’ because the event has become one of those before-event and after-event milestones). ..read more
